ASM 170 Description

The ASM170 is a compact yet powerful engine auto start module. It offers flexibility and features normally found in much larger and more expensive units. Its high density MOLEX plug makes it ideal for panel builders. It can also be easily replaced in the field if problems should arise. With the on board Manual-Off-Automatic switch, Panel wiring is greatly simplified. Its unique design also allows it to draw virtually no current in standby, yet be able to auto start based on a sustained or momentary contact closure.

Features

The ASM170 is typically used in generator applications. Basic auto start and protection features are standard. These include engine crank / rest, crank disconnect, overspeed, low oil pressure, high engine temperature, low levels and spare shutdowns. The start signal to the controller can be momentary or sustained. It also has a multifunction output that can be selected to perform one of the following functions:

Shutdown Lockout Delay	1 to 300 seconds (adjustable). Locks out low oil, high temperature and loss of speed signal on start up.

Overspeed Trip Point	From 13 to 8500 Hz. Adjustable
Frequency Input	Requires 1.5 V rms minimum to 140 V rms maximum

For the OEM

The ASM170 was designed with the OEM in mind. The MOLEX connector makes for easy integration into the engine wire harness. It also has a programming header that allows the OEM to download his set-points to the controller so that he does not have to spend time adjusting the potentiometers and dip switches.
